To conduct health and social sciences research

At the core of HSSRF’s mission in bridging the gap, HSSRF is dedicated to conducting quality research that will provide evidence to improve health. Through a multi-disciplinary approach, HSSRF aims to generate valuable insights and evidence to inform policy and practice, aiming to improve health outcomes and social conditions throughout the country.

HSSRF’s research focuses on several key areas, including public health, social determinants of health, health systems research, and behavioral sciences. The foundation adheres to rigorous research methodologies and collaborates with leading institutions to ensure the quality and credibility of its findings. Additionally, the foundation works closely with stakeholders to ensure that its research is implemented in real-world settings to improve health and social well-being in Tanzania.

Synthesize and repackage dissemination materials

HSSRF strives to ensure access to and availability of research-generated knowledge. The foundation articulates a strong commitment to creating tailored content to enhance change in knowledge, attitude, and practices among relevant stakeholders. HSSRF is committed to translating its research findings into actionable recommendations for policymakers and practitioners.  The following dissemination activities are central to HSSRF:

  • Development of written materials such as research articles, systematic reviews, posters, newsletters, research bulletins, and policy briefs.
  • Production of electronic materials such as online registries of research evidence, real-time reminders, web conferences, and websites.
  • Arrangement of interpersonal communication activities or events, such as community of practice networks, forums, knowledge brokers, partnerships with stakeholders, and seminars/workshops.

Support policy development

HSSRF actively participates in policy development and analysis, offering evidence-based recommendations to policymakers and implementers. By connecting biomedical sciences with social determinants, HSSRF champions policies that ensure equitable healthcare access and address social inequalities, thus promoting positive societal outcomes. HSSRF supports policy developers throughout the policy development process, from research and evaluation to policy uptake. Main activities in supporting policy development include

  1. Conducting situation analysis for policy review and development of policy ideas, including setting an agenda to address a specific problem
  2. Conducted and coordinated stakeholders’ engagement in the policy review and development process.
  3. Develop and evaluate alternative policy ideas
  4. Conducting Policy impact analysis

Capacity building on Health and Social Sciences.

HSSRF specializes in Organization Development (OD) interventions. Its holistic approach includes building the capacities of organizations and institutions to enhance integrity, sustainability, and impact. HSSRF facilitates capacity strengthening across all critical categories of development stakeholders, including the Government, Academia/Higher Learning Institutions, Civil Society/Non-Governmental Organizations, UN Agencies and International Organizations, the private sector, the media, and faith-based organizations.

Project management, monitoring and evaluation

HSSRF excels in project management, monitoring, and evaluation, ensuring the success and sustainability of health and social science initiatives. Our expertise in these areas ensures that every project we undertake is managed efficiently, meets its objectives, and delivers meaningful outcomes that contribute to the well-being of communities. Our approach is grounded in meticulous planning, stakeholder engagement, and adaptive strategies, all guided by internationally recognized frameworks. We employ both qualitative and quantitative methods to track progress, measure impact, and identify areas for improvement, ensuring that projects remain aligned with their goals and deliver meaningful outcomes.

Our Core Objectives

The specific objectives are:

  1. Conduct health and social researches as well as analyze health and social policies for the purpose of providing evidence based on sound recommendations to the policy makers and implementers
  2. Organize, coordinate, Provide and manage emergency services whenever required and in such events as hazards and any form of threat or situation which entail a clinical or public health intervention.
  3. Design, organize manage the early warning system and disseminate health related early warning information to the target group.
  4. Organize and coordinate fundraising for the purpose of supporting the public health facilities in terms of equipment’s, Human Resources, drugs and infrastructure.
  5. To develop, aid, initiate, assist, promote, organize and advising strategies of finding means of financing and providing technical and managerial to; public or private health training institutions, postgraduate students and any other stakeholder carrying out researches or training in areas of health and social sciences which are relevant to policy formulation or policy analysis.
  6. To publish and Supply the literature on the basis of providing evidence to health policy formulation or analysis and any other interest abiding objectives of this organization.
  7. Collaborate with any governmental or non-governmental entity inside and outside the country whose objectives do not contravene the objectives of this organization
  8. Engage in any activity or project and any function which do not contradict with the general objective of this organization as well as performing any activity that the organization deems fit.
