Dear HSSRF stakeholders,
It is with great honor and excitement that I share on behalf of the board members, and our organization this portfolio as we indulge in serving our communities.
The Health and Social Sciences Research Foundation, abbreviated as HSSRF is a non-profit, non-governmental organization, non-partisan, non-religious, established in 2016 in Tanzania. The desire to establish this organization resulted from a gap between social sciences and health, while social is a greater share of health. This gap caused a limited or lack of research evidence readily available to policymakers and decision-makers regarding necessary interventions that could improve the well-being of the people. As grounded in its vision and motto, HSSRF focuses on bridging that gap. HSSRF operates under four main pillars;
Pillar 1: Evidence generation: We focus on generating evidence through primary research, reviewing research conducted elsewhere, and documenting lessons learned in observed practices. We conduct and support research to generate this evidence.
Pillar 2: Knowledge translation and dissemination: The evidence generated in pillar 1 is synthesized, repackaged, and disseminated to key stakeholders, including policy and decision-makers, in simple and popular language ready for uptake.
Pillar 3: Linking policy to practice: We take the liberty of testing the available policy options in practice based on pillars 1 and 2 and thus generate more evidence. In HSSRF, we believe that interventions in papers must be implemented on a small scale before scaling up.
Pillar 4: Advocacy: We believe that for evidence and knowledge to be of use, advocacy is a pattern parcel to each of them. We use a participatory and learning approach to engage our stakeholders in our advocacy strategy.
I wish to acknowledge the continued support from our stakeholders, and on behalf of the board of directors, I forge our commitment to implement with a thrust into realizing the improvement in health and social sciences in our communities. We encourage and welcome more stakeholders, working, collaborating, and growing with us as we strive to improve health and social welfare.

On behalf of the Health and Social Sciences Research Foundation (HSSRF) board members and directors, I am delighted to invite all stakeholders to HSSRF. HSSRF is a non-governmental organization established in 2016 and headquartered in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. HSSRF was founded to address the growing need in lower- and middle-income countries to connect health and social science research. By providing evidence to support policy development, implementation, and analysis, HSSRF plays a critical role in bridging the gap between the biological model and social determinants, ultimately enhancing community well-being. The organization operates on four key pillars: Evidence Generation, Knowledge Translation and Dissemination, Linking Policy to Practice, and Advocacy. HSSRF is committed to integrating innovation into all its activities, reinforcing our vision: "Scientific evidence for lasting quality health and social welfare."
